Because the game is called "Mario Kart", Mario has been in every game up to date. He was one of the first eight racers in the game, along with his brother, Luigi, the Princess, Toadstool, and his nemesis, Bowser. In Double Dash!!, his race partner was his one and only brother, Luigi.

Mario is a medium weight racer, so he is a fairly good racer. His stats are an all around in the middle, so he has decent speed and acceleration. He is very easy to use and commonly does promise an easy win. He is recommended for new racers and elite racers may enjoy him too. Main Mario is overall a good choice for you if you just started and need someone till you unlock more racers.
